Geography
Our Geography curriculum has been planned to teach fieldwork skills and the map skills of using and making maps progressively, alongside locational knowledge, place knowledge and specific knowledge of aspects of physical and human geography. Where possible, choices of places to study in depth have taken into consideration links to our local area and to our History teaching.
Fieldwork opportunities are built into our curriculum including monitoring and recording the weather and changing seasons in our school playground as well as a visit to the Thames at Chiswick to measure pollution levels and wildlife in the water. Our Geography teaching contributes to children’s understanding of their place in the world, how the planet is changing and their role and responsibility in protecting their local and global environment.
Geography learning is enriched with a range of trips in the local area, including on Hampstead Heath, as well as visits to the Natural History Museum and the Thames Explorer Trust.
