Music

Music is taught by a music specialist, who also leads our choir and music assemblies. Our teaching builds children’s skills progressively in the areas of singing and performing, listening and composition as set out in the National Curriculum, building on the Expressive Arts area of learning in Reception.

All children have the opportunity to perform regularly to their peers, the school and to wider audiences.

There is significant enrichment of our music provision through clubs, performances in school, opportunities for instrumental tuition and through our Arts Project, where recent projects have included whole school singing concerts and musical productions.

Currently over a third of KS2 attend our choir which performs at school events, in Church and in many Camden music events with other local schools including at the Music Festival at the Royal Albert Hall.   All children from Year 2 upwards learn a music instrument (recorder) in whole class wider opportunities sessions and all children can access instrumental tuition through Camden Music Service via the school. Instrumentalists perform regularly to their peers in a termly music assembly.
